Job Description:

Summary:

The Vice President, Audit for Finance, Treasury, Enterprise Strategy & Model Risk oversees, plans, and carries out audit activities for these areas within TD Bank Group. The role covers areas such as liquidity, capital management, stress testing, funds transfer pricing, balance sheet risk, treasury services, FP&A, financial accounting, tax, reporting, and model risk. Audits are executed with a risk-based approach and in line with IIA standards and the Internal Audit Charter. This position reports to the Global Deputy Chief Auditor of TD Bank Group and is expected to foster strong working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues across the Bank.

Depth & Scope:
  • Lead the audit activities for Finance, Treasury, Enterprise Strategy and Models across the Bank and ensure adherence to Internal Audit methodology, standards, and practices
  • Oversee the design and development of audit plans, conduct risk assessments, review and approve audit scopes, and ensure audits comply with Internal Audit standards, with results reported to Senior Management
  • Coordinate with other Audit groups to the extent that initiatives or projects impact audit activities within the areas of accountability
  • Provide senior leadership to the Division and contribute to the senior management team
  • Support the Chief Audit Executive's opinion provided to the Audit Committee on the effectiveness of Bank's governance, risk management and internal controls
  • Maintain an effective yet independent relationship with all key stakeholders, ensuring regular communication and appropriate escalation of issues
  • Recommend, support & maintain adequate resources needed to execute the audit plan, including necessary subject-matter expertise
  • Deliver the audit plan evenly across the year, following approval from the TDBG Audit Committee and meeting regulatory expectations
  • Identify significant control gaps and escalate to relevant stakeholders when required within areas of accountability
  • Provide clear, thorough, and timely reports on important control matters
  • Offer ongoing support and take ownership of Internal Audit priorities
  • Attract, develop, and retain talent, keeping an active talent pipeline
  • Communicate a clear and compelling vision that encourages followership

Education & Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree required; Post Graduate degree preferred
  • Professional Accreditation (e.g., Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Internal Auditor) is an asset
  • 15+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated success in strategy development and execution, delivering outstanding results both short and long term
  • Prior experience in building a leading audit function within a large, complex, global organization
  • Proven ability to leverage deep subject matter expertise, align teams with a central vision, and foster input from others to shape that vision
  • Strong people management skills with a track record of leading high-performing teams, motivating diverse professionals, collaborating effectively across the bank, and influencing stakeholders
  • Exceptional collaborator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, interpersonal, and leadership abilities for effective engagement with senior management
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, negotiation, and partnership skills to balance stakeholder perspectives while remaining objective and resilient under pressure
  • Proven ability to build strong professional relationships and achieve objectives through positive influence
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective team collaboration, including a record of cross-organizational work with stakeholders at various levels
  • Advanced knowledge of auditing standards, practices, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Strong capacity for delegating authority and implementing policies that ensure comprehensive oversight
  • Skilled in analyzing business scenarios and collaborating on overarching corporate strategies
  • Experience in strategic planning and process management
  • Senior leadership experience, complemented by financial management expertise
