Do you excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse partners and communities? We have an opportunity to make an impact by joining our Stakeholder, Community and Indigenous Relations team as a Senior Specialist, Stakeholder & Community Relations.

In this role, you will apply your expertise in relationship management and strategic engagement to support WorkSafeBC's enterprise-wide approach to stakeholder and community relations. You will provide strategic advice and insights to senior leadership on stakeholder engagement, emerging issues, and relationship opportunities.

The role focuses on cultivating relationships with key external parties, including employer and industry associations, regulatory bodies, labour organizations, and community groups. Through thoughtful engagement and strategic collaboration, you will help advance a balanced and proactive engagement strategy that supports WorkSafeBC's mandate and priorities.

This is a temporary role for 12 months.

Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you will work primarily from your assigned local office, with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.

• Lead stakeholder engagement initiatives and projects that align WorkSafeBC organizational priorities with stakeholder and community interests.
• Provide strategic advice and recommendations to leadership on stakeholder issues, emerging trends, and engagement opportunities.
• Analyze stakeholder perspectives and external developments to help inform organizational strategy, policy development, and operational decisions.
• Identify and monitor issues that may impact WorkSafeBC and recommend proactive engagement strategies.
• Support the development and implementation of stakeholder outreach initiatives, including engagement plans, timelines, communications materials, and follow-up tracking.
• Foster and maintain productive relationships with external partners to support collaboration, transparency, and trust.
• Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.

We're looking for someone who can:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and community partners.
• Influence decision-making through clear, thoughtful, and timely written and verbal communication.
• Provide guidance and advice to team members across the organization to support consistent and effective stakeholder engagements that align to WorkSafeBC's experience framework.
• Develop a strong understanding of WorkSafeBC and stakeholder priorities, perspectives, and external pressures through consistent engagement and environmental awareness.
• Manage projects and initiatives by developing work plans, identifying risks and opportunities, and delivering results in a dynamic environment.

Your background and experience

• A university degree in business, political science, communications, public relations, or other relevant discipline.
• A minimum of six years of experience in the stakeholder or public relations field.
• Experience engaging with labour organizations, employer associations, industry groups, regulatory bodies, or community organizations is strongly preferred.
• Certification in the principles and practices of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) is considered an asset.
• This role requires occasional travel to events across the province.

Salary: $92,918.00-$112,895.00/annually
