The Opportunity:

WSPis currently seeking an experienced Senior Planner/Project Manager to join WSP's Urban and Community Planning practice in our Dartmouth office. Reporting to the Manager of Planning, this position will be responsible for leading a wide range of municipal planning policy and land development projects. You can expect to be engaged in a diverse array of projects undertaken in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, and dynamic business environment. Responsibilities will also include identifying and pursuing business opportunities, working to help build and develop our local area practice for Atlantic Canada, provide guidance to intermediate and early career professionals, and collaborate with experts from WSP's other business lines to provide planning services that supports active projects.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Preparing policy and zoning reviews for municipal and development clients;
  • Preparing municipal planning documents such as municipal plans, zoning/land use by-laws, and secondary plans;
  • Conducting research and presenting planning analyses;
  • Obtaining planning and development approvals;
  • Organizing, participating in and facilitating public and stakeholder engagement processes;
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and regions across Canada;
  • Leading and coordinating proposals for internal and external clients;
  • Carrying out business development and client service tasks;
  • Fulfilling project management tasks and responsibilities; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • University degree in Planning;
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a municipal or consulting environment;
  • Full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners;
  • Ability to support and grow our local Atlantic Canadian team through ongoing business development efforts;
  • Designation as a Project Management Professional (PMP) will be considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information;
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, including management of multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Highly motivated, organized, flexible, enthusiastic team player committed to upholding our reputation for delivering high quality service;
  • Excellent written and oral communication and time management skills;
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
