Are you looking to build a strong foundation in land surveying while working on meaningful infrastructure and land development projects? As a Junior Survey Technician, you'll support field survey operations across a variety of civil and infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience alongside experienced survey professionals. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys outdoor work, values precision, and is eager to learn and grow in a team-based environment.
Your Impact
  • Assist with field surveys to collect accurate topographic, construction, and control data.
  • Support survey crew leads in setting up and operating survey equipment, including GNSS receivers and total stations.
  • Help with layout, measurements, and data collection under the direction of senior technicians or survey leads.
  • Perform basic checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness before submission to office teams.
  • Participate in field preparation, equipment maintenance, and site setup.
  • Follow WSP safety procedures and contribute to a strong safety-first culture in the field.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to support efficient and well-coordinated field operations.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • 0-2 years of experience in land surveying or related field work (co-op, internship, or summer experience welcomed).
  • Diploma or coursework in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Interest in learning modern survey equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Civil 3D, MicroSurvey).
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn technical and field-based skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active project sites.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel locally as required.
  • Chainsaw training or experience is an asset, but not required.

Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $57,500 - $76,200
  • MB & ON: $52,500 - $72,300
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $52,000 - $69,000
