Job Description

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Atlantic Environmental Assessment and Permitting team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Primary responsibilities will be to provide support on a wide variety of projects as delegated by senior staff within the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and execution of:
    • Environmental permit applications
    • Environmental assessments
    • Familiarity, or knowledge of: wetland assessments, terrestrial biological studies, and/or estuary/marine biological studies
    • Preparation of proposals and technical reports

Key requirements include:
  • University Degree in Biology or Environmental Science, however applicants with technical diplomas may be considered
  • 2-5 years' experience
  • Solid technical and/or academic background in biological sciences
  • Experience with some or all of the following:
  • environmental resources surveys and analysis including aquatic and marine sciences: (fish community, benthic invertebrate and sediment sampling, water quality sampling, area-velocity discharge measurements and fish habitat mapping), and/or
  • Terrestrial sciences: wetland delineations, botany, fauna surveys
  • Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to
    • work in Canada with a valid Canadian driver's license
    • work effectively as a member of a team, and also independently with minimal supervision and direction
    • demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills
    • demonstrate an existing strong commitment to personal/professional development and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
