What you can expect to do with us:
- Prepare and implement site-specific health and safety plans to reduce or eliminate hazards for yourself, WSP clients, colleagues, and the public.
- Carry out field activities such as groundwater monitoring, in-situ testing, soil sampling through trenches or drilling, and various environmental characterization tasks, as well as project preparation and follow-up under the supervision of team leads.
- Assist the lead technician in supervising work related to soil disturbance, locating utilities, conducting surveys and drilling, and installing groundwater observation wells.
- Support the lead technician in monitoring environmental remediation activities, including managing excavations, overseeing excavated and transported soils, and drafting follow-up reports.
- Assist the project manager in preparing site work (orders, documentation, logistics).
- Compile field data and write daily reports.
- Perform any other related tasks to contribute to project success.
What you will bring to WSP:
- Currently enrolled in a degree in an environment-related field.
- Strong teamwork skills, good organizational sense, and resourcefulness.
- Willingness to learn, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
- Knowledge of sampling techniques and soil, groundwater (micro-purge), and surface water description.
- A passion for outdoor work in various conditions and travel throughout the week (think far from a typical 9-to-5 office job!).
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
