Site Description: Halifax Stanfield is Atlantic Canada's principal full-service airport providing passengers and cargo clients with direct access to markets across Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean Basin, Europe, and Asia. Halifax Stanfield offers Canada Customs services on a 24-hour, seven day a week basis, and it's the only airport in Atlantic Canada with U.S. preclearance and International to Domestic processing facilities.

As an Access Control Officer, you will be working as the main Security detail for Halifax Stanfield International Airport. You will ensure the safety & security of all passengers, workers and flight personnel by monitoring the Primary Security Line or PSL at various gates and access points. You will ensure that only authorized individuals have access to the restricted areas beyond the PSL.

Other duties include:
•24/7 Monitoring the terminal areas, perimeter for safety concerns and suspicious behaviors.
•Ensuring all tenants and guests are adhering to the regulations laid out by Transport Canada.
•Performing regular patrols of airport facilities to ensure security and safety measures are upheld.
•Conducting routine safety checks throughout the property.
•Responding to emergency situations and acting as incident commander until relieved by first responders is a crucial responsibility associated with this position.
•Detecting, responding and managing emergencies as directed by the Security Operations Centre (SOC)
Career Advancement Opportunities to become trained in Security Operations Centre and Patrol when positions may become available.

We are seeking experienced security professionals looking to build a full-time career in Aviation Security.

Positions Require:


•Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
•Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
•Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, including working under pressure.
•Discretion when handling confidential and private information.
•Ability to pass a security clearance and hold a RAIC
•Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
•Flexible availability including weekends and overnight shifts, schedule of 06:00-18:00/18:00-06:00
•Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma.
•Must have reliable transportation to the airport.
•Must have a valid Driver's License with min 3 years of driving experience.
•Must have valid First Aid & CPR certificate (Online First Aid/CPR certificate not accepted)

Education Requirements (Any)

High School Diploma/GED

Certification Requirements (Any)

Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
Valid Class 5 License

Pay Classification:


AVSEC training would be paid at $15.20


On-job training would be paid at $17.30


Pay rates once approved to full duties paid at $21.53
