Job Skills / Requirements
The Security Programs Manager will have overall responsibility for the QEII Campus Hospital Sites;
Halifax Infirmary and Victoria General Hospital, as well as additional properties to be determined following award of this position.
The successful applicant will report directly to the Operations Manager as well as have accountability to the Regional Healthcare Manager. The Halifax Infirmary Site Supervisor and Victoria General Site Supervisor will report to the Security Programs Manager, however will manage the specific operations of the site as per normal.
Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitor all requests for NSHA Identification within Central Zone and delegate requests for Identification processing accordingly, as well as assist in the completion of this task.
Liaise with NSHA management on any Identification requests that may be flagged or require further information.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of all Identification requests and de-activations are kept.
Maintain the currency of the C-Cure employee card holders list and ensure it is maintained in accordance with the new hires and leaves report.
Be responsible for responding to or delegating response to emails, calls or other inquiries to the security department at the QEII Health Science Centre in a timely fashion.
Have knowledge of the Paladin Security Progressive Discipline model and issue appropriate discipline and coaching as required.
Have knowledge and sound understanding of both the HI and VG sites and be able to act as a subject matter expert on issues that may arise in relation to security at either site.
Attend meetings scheduled or unscheduled as required.
Formulate comprehensive reports as required for either Paladin Management or the NSHA client.
Act as a liaison between on-site supervisory staff and the Paladin Management Team, and NSHA Client.
Enforce Paladin and NSHA Policy and Procedure and hold themselves to the highest standard of adherence.
Assists in the development of short and long range goals and objective ensuring that such plans support the goals, policies, and vision of Paladin Security Group.
Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates the security programs for Paladins contracts.
Oversees and schedules the appropriate resources to ensure all of the company's contractual obligations are met.
Takes ownership of staff and client issues and supports the timely response to both groups.
Develops and maintains excellent relationships with the clients in the portfolio.
Performs interviews to support Human Resources to ensure sufficient resources are available to meet the companys contractual obligations.
Ensures there are thorough site training and employee orientation programs in place at all sites within the portfolio.
Visits with clients and the staff assigned to the sites regularly and ensure the needs of both the client and staff are met.
Monitors daily and nightly reports and Incident Reports and takes appropriate action on the reports that are related to sites within the portfolio.
Ensures overall coordination of Paladin contract security plans by:developing and maintaining the security program;developing and maintaining facility plans and related documentation; coordinating and evaluating security and fire safety system and process testing requirements;ensuring regulatory requirements are met; and providing direction to related committees within the Paladin health care contracts.
Supports other Paladin wide programs by delivering education/awareness sessions on security issues as required from time to time.
A graduate degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related discipline and specialized training in protection services or criminology; or equivalent education and experience consider an asset.
Minimum of one years supervisory/managerial experience in security. Must have strong leadership, social interaction and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Creative ability to foster new and better ways to perform and succeed.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
Will be responsive to any high level site related emergencies as necessary both during normal business hours and after hours.
