Job Summary An opportunity to utilize your expert analytical and problem management skillsPost-Secondary Digital Policy and Programs Branch (PSDPPB) works collaboratively to enhance the Ministry's digital strategy and digital service delivery through two core initiatives: the Digital Services Strategy and Digital Learning Strategy. These initiatives support flexible, high-quality learning experiences and opportunities for post-secondary participation and career development.
The Data Scientist is the expert data scientist for large scale, complex, multi-year projects involving programs and partners from across the Ministry and partner organizations. This position applies expert advice and knowledge pertaining to data science to ministry-wide programs and projects which are significant in terms of government priorities and have unique requirements.
Job Requirements:Degree in a related field and 2-year related experience; or, a diploma in the related field, and 4 years related experience; or, certification from a recognized institution, in the related field and 5 years related experience; or, 6 years related experience.
Related Education fields may include: Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty education as designated by program requirements.
Related experience includes a combination of the following:
- Experience at leveraging structured and unstructured data sources to conduct quantitative analysis.
- Experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution assessment, bias and error.
- Experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution assessment, bias and error.
- Familiarity with machine learning, clustering and classification techniques to analyze diverse sources of data.
- Experience creating and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making.
WILLINGNESS STATEMENT

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
