Job Summary
The Team:
The Rocky Mountain District Revenue Team is a dynamic group responsible for managing all revenue-related tasks in the district, including Timber Cruising reviews, Appraisals, Scaling, and Waste management. Led by the Revenue Supervisor, the team consists of Revenue Specialists, Technicians, and Scaling Program personnel, working together to ensure accurate tracking of stumpage and waste billing, which generates millions of dollars for the Crown. This well-established team is growing to meet increasing demands and collaborates closely with other district teams to achieve shared goals, fostering accountability and professionalism across the board.
The Role:
As the Senior Licensed Authorizations Officer, you will lead the Revenue Team, managing workloads, setting objectives, and liaising with clients to ensure Ministry goals are met. Your role involves overseeing staff training, addressing priorities, and ensuring high-level performance across the team. This position plays a crucial role in the accurate determination of Stumpage and Waste Billing, impacting both the local economy and communities. With the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Rocky Mountain District, this leadership role offers clear deliverables and is a strong steppingstone toward further leadership opportunities within the Ministry of Forests.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be located in Cranbrook or Invermere.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Registered as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC), or able to transfer a current membership to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resource Management or equivalent as recognized by Forest Professionals BC.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience (field/office) working in natural resource management.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in forest tenures, timber cruising and appraisals.
- Minimum two (2) years' supervisory experience including leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or an equivalent driver's licence from another province or jurisdiction.
Preference may be given to those with:
- Experience working in collaboration with First Nations in resource management; and/or,
- Experience working with authorizations and planning (such as tenures and stewardship).
Provisos:
- Meet safety standards of WorkSafe BC.
- May be required to operate a variety of equipment (including chainsaws, off-road vehicles, etc).
- Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
