The Opportunity:
WSP has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant on a full-time basis based in Dartmouth, Fredericton or Moncton. Our team is growing, and as a result, we are looking for you to join our multi-disciplinary team of occupational/industrial hygienists, EHS compliance professionals, environmental professionals, and hazardous materials managers in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic region. As an Intermediate EHS Consultant, you will work on projects involving hazardous material management/remediation and other EHS-related projects.

  • Assisting clients in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Report preparation and intermitten fieldwork.

A day in the life:
  • Provide full cycle Project Coordination and Management Services, which will include:
    • Initiating and managing projects from the proposal stage to completion;
    • Developing project scopes of work and budgets;
    • Preparing proposals;
    • Tracking time and expenses to projects, allocating staff and resources, compiling invoicing information and maintaining project files;
    • Conducting and scheduling and supervising resources to ensure projects are progressing efficiently;
    • Generating reports and correspondence; and,
    • Identifying and rectifying site issues and project concerns.
  • Provide Industrial/Occupational Hygiene services to our clients, which will include:
    • Conducting qualitative and quantitative worker exposure assessments of chemical, physical, biological agents;
    • Conducting Indoor Air Quality Assessments (IAQ);
    • Conducting hygiene, health and safety compliance/conformance; and management systems audits.
  • Providing Hazardous Materials Management Expertise, including:
    • Conducting building assessments for hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, and mould;
    • Preparing, developing, and tendering remediation specifications for hazardous material removal, including asbestos, lead and mould; and,
    • Providing on-site inspection services for hazardous materials abatement and remediation projects, including contractor oversight, air sampling, and reporting.
  • Actively participating in and encouraging adherence to our Health and Safety program and industry best practice.
  • Conducting training programs.
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, occupational health, environmental science or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant consulting or industry experience;
  • Actively working towards a certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or another similar certification would be an asset;
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation;
  • Working knowledge of industrial hygiene practices and indoor air quality assessments including maintenance and calibration of field equipment;
  • Experience in providing services and/or training in hazardous materials management is considered an asset;
  • Availability and willingness to travel periodically within North America as required, occasionally for extended periods of time. The frequency and duration of travel and site work will depend on business and client needs.
