Site Description:
Positions are available at the Halifax Infirmary, Victoria General, and Dartmouth General Hospital.
The Halifax Infirmary is home to the Charles V. Keating Emergency and Trauma Centre. It also houses a number of inpatient units, surgery departments, and outpatient clinics.
The Victoria General in Halifax houses in patient and outpatient clinics and services.
Dartmouth General Hospital provides services to approximately 120,000 people in Dartmouth and surrounding areas.
Position Details:
Position: Dispatcher
Site: Halifax Infirmary; Victoria General Hospital; Dartmouth General Hospital
Hours: 8am - 4pm; 4pm - midnight; midnight - 8am
Payrate: $20.50/hour
Key Responsibilities:
Join Paladin Security as a Healthcare Security Dispatcher serving the Halifax Infirmary , Victoria General Hospital , or the Dartmouth General Hospital . This position is a not a uniformed security position and does not require a security license. In this essential front-line role, based out of the hospital security office, you'll be responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinating responses, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of hospital operations. Dispatchers play a crucial role in maintaining calm and clear communication during critical moments and supporting both staff and patients with professionalism.
• Handle all incoming calls with professionalism and composure, providing excellent customer service
• Maintain positive relationships with Paladin employees, management, and hospital staff while handling confidential information
• Dispatch alarm response calls quickly and accurately within designated time frames
• Respond to alarms following established account instructions
• Accurately update alarm and event records in the system
• Create and issue hospital ID cards as needed
• Assist Shift Supervisors or Site Supervisors with administrative and operational tasks as assigned
Prerequisites:
• Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and stressful environment.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all situations.
• Ability to prioritize based on severity of the call.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in dispatching, or a related field preferred.
