Job summary
At Amazon Web Services, we're hiring highly technical cloud architects to help our customers and partners develop technical expertise and capacity, while also collaborating with them on key engagements. Our consultants deliver proof-of-concepts, topical workshops, and lead implementation projects. These professional services engagements focus on key customer solutions such as, cloud adoption, migration, design and implementation of high availability infrastructure for web and enterprise applications, high performance computing (HPC), infrastructure and network design for big data and IA/ML, IoT workloads.

Professional Services engage in a wide variety of projects for customers and partners, providing collective experience from across our customer base and obsess over customer success. Our team collaborates across the entire organization to bring access to product and services, to ensure the right solution is delivered and drives innovation based upon customer needs.

This role is available in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. It is a customer facing role, you may be required to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of industry experience in implementing complex IT systems at scale.
  • 3+ years of implementation experience with AWS solutions and services (EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, S3 etc.) or equivalent experience with other cloud providers
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field or equivalent professional or military experience
  • Experience working in a customer facing role (external or internal). Strong sense of customer focus, ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical audiences. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with scripting (Python, JavaScript or equivalent) and infrastructure automation technologies (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible or equivalent). Development experience a plus.
  • Hands on experience troubleshooting network, storage, performance and security issues.
  • Experience designing high availability network solutions for public and hybrid cloud (on-prem/multi-cloud) scenarios. Experience integrating DNS, LoadBalancers, and network security solutions.
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%) to customer locations when needed, both locally and within Canada


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience building highly-available, fault-tolerant, multi-Tenant, and cost efficient infrastructure architectures to support enterprise software solutions.
  • Experience deploying Identity and Access Management systems to secure access to public and hybrid cloud environments (experience with SSO, SAML, and Active Directory).
  • Experience with execution of large scale migration projects, ideally Data Center to Cloud.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Systems administration experience in virtualized environments (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, OpenStack)
  • Experience designing Logging/Monitoring/Alerting solutions in the cloud. (Experience with relevant products such as : AWS VPC, Route 53, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, Splunk, DataDog, Zabbix, ELK Stack)
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
