What our Assistant Accounting Manager does:

Under the guidance of the Manager, Finance, this position is responsible for month-end reporting, data analysis, preparing journal entries and the overall supervision and engagement of the accounting team. The Assistant Accounting Manager is collaborative, excels at multi-tasking and displays exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. This key contributor fosters and cultivates a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. The Assistant Accounting Manager motivates, leads by example and champions a learning environment. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures. A Snapshot of Job Duties:
    •Prepares month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (pre-paid, revenue and general expenses). •Prepares bank and general ledger account reconciliations, deposits cheques. •Cashflow forecasting and fund management. •Preparing and filing monthly HST returns. •Debtors Ageing and Receivables Management. •Prepares monthly financial reports for government agencies. •Supports and assists with the annual budgeting and business case evaluations of all capital projects. •Provides supervision, direction, coaching and mentoring to the accounting team. •Delivers performance evaluations for direct reports. •Coordinates with external and internal auditors, resolving and responding to the audit queries. •Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders - effectively communicating with operational departments.

    •Personifies Great Canadian's values in action: Integrity, Team Engagement, Drive to Succeed, Service Excellence and Citizenship •A passion for providing Great Experiences and Memories to our internal and external guests in the continual quest of achieving Service Excellence. •Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication. •Minimum three years of experience in an accounting role. •Minimum of one year of supervisory experience required. •Must have or be actively working towards a CPA designation. •Proficiency in Microsoft Excel a must (these skills will be tested). •Working knowledge of Microsoft Access is an asset. •Work experience using computerized accounting software such as JDE, SAP or Oracle Financials. •Knowledge of IFRS is preferred. •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. •Strong data analysis skills with a keen attention to detail. •Must be able to work under minimal supervision. •Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines effectively. •Must possess excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills. •Excellent organizational skills, an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. •Adaptability to work both independently and as a team player, with ability to work in an open office environment. •Candidates must be able to work flexible hours as required, mostly at month end periods.
