Cannabis legalization represents an historic shift in public policy. British Columbia has prioritized thegoals of protecting children and youth, promoting health and safety, keeping the criminal element out of cannabis, keeping our roads safe, and supporting economic development. The Community Safety Unit, awarded the 2020 Top Work Unit Award, works under the Policing and Security Branch of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, andis responsible for conducting inspections and investigations of illegal cannabis retailers and other related operations to ensure compliance with federal and provincial cannabis laws.

As the Business Application Analyst, you will report to the Deputy Director of the Community Safety Unit, and will be a key player in the operation of the Unit.In this role you willrepresent the Unit in the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement and maintenance of business applications to meet both current and future business needs. This includes ensuring data integrity, tracking and statistical reporting, developing, and maintaining training materials, and providing training and support to users.

You also have the ability to effectively explain technical information to non-technical end users. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • Diploma in business or public administration or program related area.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) year or more experience working collaboratively with various stakeholders on business process change projects.
  • One (1) year or more experience with business applications including user support, data integrity, administrative functions, troubleshooting and user acceptance testing.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Project and systems development experience.
  • Experience training end users on systems.
  • Experience working with MS Dynamics or MS Visio.
